Squirrel: 1, Guelph Taxpayers: 0

Hole chewed in no time flat

Here is a photo of our new composting bin. The resident squirrel made short work of it.

Below, a photo of the plastic container that we’ve used for some years now for storing our plastic bags. Same chewing, but it took a long time for the squirrel get that far, and he kinda gave up when he ran into the inside layer of plastic in the lid.

The problem is of course, the squirrel knows that he can do this, so replacing the lid is not really an option.

Squirrel-resistant container with battle scars

Perhaps our units will be further equipped with robo-dogs for added protection.
